It’s not uncommon that a vehicle’s ECU needs replacing due to damage. The most common is due to water ingress. We hear of vehicles every week which have suffered such a fate. In these circumstances you have a few options. A new replacement ECU from the Main Dealers, a used unit which will need to be coded to the car (this isn’t always possible) or a plug and play ecu with the immobiliser removed (again, this isn’t always possible either). An alternative to these would be to Clone your old ecu to a used replacement. Our service strips and cleans the ECU on a bench where we then attempt to power up the unit on a bench to read the original data. While this isn’t a guaranteed process being able to read your old ECU, we only charge a Diagnostic fee for checking your ECU if we are unable to read the data on your ECU.
If we can read your ECU, then we offer a replacement sourced by us and we will then transfer all data to the new unit. This will effectively become a plug & play ecu in your vehicle.
Our cloning service isn’t available for all vehicles but we do have a wide range of ECU’s and vehicles we cover. It is always worth asking if this is an option for you and if it isn’t we may be able to offer you an alternative solution.
